In 1954 I was asked to make a contribution to a course on Environmental Studies at Woolley Hall, near Wakefield, by producing three plays from the Wakefield cycle of mystery plays.

WHY WAKEFIELD?
The unique manuscript of the Towneley Plays now rests in the Huntington Library, San Marino, California. It comprises thirty-two plays all but one of which, The Hanging of Judas, are written in a mid-fifteenth-century hand.
