I've finished The Fellowship of the Ring and I also read The Professor by Charlotte Bronte since I'm too much of a coward to attempt Rebel Angels this year. Perhaps I'll read it next ... Well I finished The Fellowship of the Ring around midnight this morning and started to read The Professor by Charlotte Bronte since it's pretty short so I'm gonna swap it into my ABC challenge. ... recorded year!! *dances* I finished the 150th book around the wee hours of this morning and my clever plan worked so that The Fellowship of the Ring took the title. But I still have to do three other reviews before I get to that so off I go!!

I'm still going with The Fellowship of the Ring which I'm enjoying immensely and I'm still terribly bewildered as to why I didn't re-read it sooner although I will admit that everything seems rather new to me so perhaps I skimmed through it much too fast the first time round in my hurry to see ... ... care it begins with an "I"!!) which is an intriguing translated french book which I shall probably read after I've finished The Fellowship of the Ring which is my current read (I'm purposely reading it on it's own so it will be my 150th unique read for this read).
So once I've got "I" and "T" ... ... even seem to get out of the Shire. The eventual solution was a family camping trip on which the only books I brought were The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. With nothing else to read, I whipped through them in nothing flat and spent the next week cursing myself for not having ... ... of the ones I remember fondly for one reason or another.

The Fellowship of the Ring isn't as bad as you might think - once you get going you might find yourself flying through it. I don't think I'm going to be done by the end of the year at this rate and since I really want to try an (abridged) 1010 Challenge, I might start reading ... ... only have 8 books left to read which I may probably not manage by the end of the year since I've still got Rebel Angels, Fellowship of the Ring and Absolution Gap which are three of the chunkiest and potentially hard-going books I have. Going to start Fires on the Plain soon, my friend gives it the highest recommendation. The Lord of the Rings. I loved The Hobbit, I was into fantasy, everyone loves Lord of the Rings.

Too many German military history books = re-reads of cozy old favorites. It didn't disappoint, although I find it odd that Fellowship is my favorite book of the trilogy, but my least favorite of the movies. Hmm... ... and embroidered it with Tolkien's glyph. Above the bed are the original covers of The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Fellowship of the Ring. The other framed pictures include a big map of middle earth, Gandalf, Smaug, Treebeard, etc.
Thanks for letting me share my excitement. ... one go and it was totally worth it! Yeah, it's a bit difficult and I did feel tempted (during The Two Towers, not during The Fellowship of the Ring) to give up too. But if you stick to it you are going to enjoy it a whole lot. My favorite part is The Return of the King. ... Good translation, but not so great transcription in some points. I've found quite a few typos...

Finding an english copy there are 862 reviews, but you can't see all the comments, you have to look at each review ... ... percent opt in for commentary, can this not escalate to getting out of hand?"
Do the comments on the reviews of The Fellowship of the Ring on Amazon seem out of hand to you?
So if we have a popular book, say The Fellowship of the Ring which has a lot of readers, and not only now, but over the course of time gets hundreds of reviews, and say ten to twenty percent opt in for commentary, can this not escalate to getting out of hand?

Count me in, too. Read The Hobbit for a class in college and struggled to finish it. Gave The Fellowship of the Ring a try - twice - and couldn't get more than 30 pages or so in. Finally, I succumbed, and after reading The Fellowship of the Rings it was like the skies cleared of dark clouds, birds began singing, the Red Sea was parted once again (you get the idea). Suffice it to say I ... ... the ban might actually have been right. It is possible, not likely mind you but possible that if I'd been allowed to read The Fellowship of the Ring at age thirteen my reaction might have been similar to yours.
But, my goodness! Remind me not to waxe lyrical on the monumental virtues of The ... ... So far I'm sure that I want NOT to have it in a hospital. All else is still mutable.) Then, the year after, I picked up The Fellowship of the Ring because the boy I had a huge crush on was reading it and I wanted to be able to talk to him about something that wasn't school gossip or baseball. ... ... no sign of appearing soon.
That was my one quibble, that it was left so obviously as a trilogy, as in the style of The Fellowship of the Ring. I desperately desperately want to get to the second right now!!
I would advice not reading this until all three are out, unless you enjoy the ... I've finally gotten enough courage to start The Fellowship of the Ring. A few years ago I got the box set and disliked The Hobbit so much that I was wary of starting three more of the books in the same vein. So fary I've only gotten to the prologue.

Which would probably be fine because the users that clamor for this sort of thing would probably be comfortable ... ... over and over through her force of character and useful objects found or given along the way. Think single volume Lord of the Rings vs. boxed sets - entered as such (and people will do so, like it or not) - of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, AND The Return of the King. I finished reading Betrayed yesterday, am reading The Fellowship of the Rings today, and am finally going to start reading Eragon tomorrow (unless I haven't finished reading the chapters for FotR yet).

So technically, if we wanted to read in writing order we would start with The Fellowship of the Ring. If we wanted to read in printing order we would have to read The Hobbit. And if we wanted to read in chronological order we would start with T ... ... we voted on the group read, we voted on the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Some group members have already started reading The Fellowship of the Ring. If the majority of members who will be participating in the reread would prefer to start with The Hobbit, then that's what we should do -- but ... beatles1964 makes some good arguments, but I think at this point in the week we should stick with Fellowship of the Ring.
Let's do 3 chapters a week. The Hobbit is such a quick read (relatively) that those who want to read it first can do it on their own and catch up with everyone else in a ... ... bib:

I finally have a day off work so I'm going to finish Betrayed and start reading The Fellowship of the Ring today. I'm afraid I can't take any reading notes as I read or I won't get any reading done so I'll have to just write notes after reading each ... ... I bought my first Unwin paperback copies of The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy I read The Hobbit first and then The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and then The Return of the King. I would've missed an awful lot if I had skipped The Hobbit and started immediately on The Fel ... ... since everyone knows that The Hobbit comes before The LOTR Trilogy. I would never think of starting to read with The Fellowship of the Ring before I would The Hobbit. It doesn't make any sense to me doing it that way.

Mar/LG, i read hard-Boiled wonderland a while back. As i recall there were two story streams, i liked one but disliked another. Or at least disliked the protagonist. And i felt i didn't quite get ... ... book thingy. (Have you seen how many characters there are in Fellowship of the Ring or War and Peace?) Usually when they add scenes it's to get rid of scenes that would take too much time.
Example: in the Fellowship of the Ring movie, they added in the scene on the mountain when Boramir has a hard time giving the ring back to Frodo (even though it wasn't in the book) because it showed so much ... ... would be pointless without some sort of contains/contained in category. Not all of the book sellers reduce their prices for the Festival, but I usually come away with some awesome deals.

The Thirteenth Tale I still remember the visceral terror of trying to read The Fellowship of the Ring when I was 10. I'd loved The Hobbit, and the language and general themes weren't a problem - but the Ring Wraiths scared the heck out of me. I didn't even make it past Weathertop in the books until I was 14. I've run the top 100 most popular of the books I've read and have only found these so far:
The Fellowship of the Ring turned up The Great War for Civilisation and Memoirs of a Geisha.
Watership Down also turned up The Great War for Civilisation.
I also found a hadful of books ... I have The Lord of the Rings, but I'm still recommended to get the constituent parts of the novel, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Is there a way of adding it to the database that the three are within that one? ... failing of other bookends I've had.
My only interesting bookends are the Argonath bookends that came with my DVD of The Fellowship of the Ring. Sadly, one of the kings lost his outstretched hand during a tipping-because-they're-too-light-for-actual-books disaster. ...
