The book Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten by Joseph Slate is a fun alphabet book. The book is about Miss Bindergarten and her class getting ready for the first day of school. It goes through each students name, in alphabetical order. There are three reasons why I liked this book. First, I thought that it was a very engaging alphabet book. It was not the typicaly just listing a few letters on the page along with a story, but instead it had the alphabet letters at the beginning of students names. The second reason I liked it ties with the first, I liked how each letter was written bigger and in a different color compared to the rest of the text. Lastly, I liked the illustrations of the book and I enjoyed how each character was a different kind of animal. ( ) "Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten" is an alphabet picture book. The book has main characters as animals and is a cute read for young children learning their letters. The emphasized letter on that page in enlarged and in a different color and each activity the teacher does to get ready had a different emphasized letter. I would recommend this book for ages 3-6. I would use this book in my classroom because I think it is any easy read for children to follow along with and I also, think students can easily relate to the storyline. This book contains parallel storylines that eventually come together at the end. This story is about Miss Bindergarten and her students getting ready for the first day of kindergarten. In the story Miss Bindergarten is getting her classroom and herself ready for her students to show up on the first day. This story also portrays several of Miss Bindergarten’s students getting ready for their first day of school. It shows the different students doing different things in their morning routine like brushing their teeth or putting on shoes. Once all of the routines are finished, then the storyline begins to intertwine and the students come to Miss Bindergarten’s class, and the journey begins. I also really enjoyed this story because it shows both perspectives. I think a of students get the impression that teachers don't have to get ready for school. This text shows that teachers in fact do have to get ready for school and get ready for the school year. "Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten" is a picture book that can be used for guided reading. The book goes through the letters of the alphabet, while telling the story of Miss Bindergarten and her kindergarten class. It uses short phrases for each letter such as "Danny Hess rushes to dress" and "Emily Moko cools her cocoa." Each beginning uses a bold letter to highlight the fact that it is going over the alphabet. This can be helpful to use for shared reading because the teacher can have the students read the letters of the alphabet while they are reading the story. The book also uses predictable phrases such as "Miss Kindergarten gets ready for kindergarten," which is said after every three letters. The book would be best with younger grades, but the predictable phrases will help the students to read those phrases with the teacher. no reviews | add a review
