Its defintely not the Green Mile or Children of the Corn.
and jseger i guess you can consider it a hint to the clue but i dont think it will help any. ... my mind has glazed over. I keep watching the boards for the answer but have no good guesses of my own.
I'm guessing Children of the Corn will be right. The quote makes me think of a couple driving a long distance and stopping. I'm just not sure if the first part of CandiBelle's message I don't know why, but that almost sounds like Children of the Corn. (Wow, I'm impressed with the touchstone. #91 - I really enjoyed Skeleton Crew, although my personal favorite will always be Night Shift! ... it really creeped me out.
The theme of complicity and family discord made me think of Stephen King's "The Bogeyman" from Night Shift, which manages to build up some nice tension.
