Hi,
I've read almost all of Daniel Quinn's books.
In my opinion his best two by far are Ishmael and The Story of B. They are where he has the most to say and the subsequent books, while still thought provoking, pale in comparison.
After reading Quinn I would strongly suggest ... "Oh shut up you stupid man."

I read Ishmael and I am in the miffle of The Story of B. Does anyone out there want to talk about Daniel Quinn's philosophy? "Yes, I suppose you could say that."

"Who the hell are you?" ... I think I may have burnt myself out on reading this past month - I'm having a hard time staying focused. I also picked Story of B off the shelf as an old favorite to poke through while I'm eating - doesn't require much attention on my nineteen-billionth read-through. I always thought My Ishmael was a little choppy, like the two halves belonged to two different books. Story of B is my favorite of them, by far. Have you read his new(ish) book, If They Give You Lined Paper, Write Sideways? >10 teelgee - I think Story of B is my favorite, but to each their own. :)
If They Give You Lined Paper... is set up as a dialogue between Quinn and a reader, trying to explore the question of how Quinn does what he does, and what it really means to think about things in a new way.

I have been eyeballing The Story of B by Daniel Quinn, but I haven't actually started reading it yet. ... That Be was a great read. Although some of you may fail to see the connections at first, I urge you to read Ishmael and The Story of B by Daniel Quinn. Take some time to process what you think they may be saying. Reading his non-fiction follow-up If They Give You Lined Paper, Write Sidew ... ... to the various subjects of education, tribalism, sustainable living, "givers" and "takers", and more. I plan on reading The Story of B and re-reading the two Ishmael books because I didn't take any notes the first time around and I'd like to have some notes of the ideas I have while reading ...
