In this alphabet book, readers are presented with 26 vivid watercolor images, 1 for each letter of the alphabet. Each letter corresponds to a person, place, or thing found on a farm. The pages all tie back to the cow mentioned in the title, with at least one cow black and white cow in each illustration. The vocabulary words are fairly typical for a farm themed alphabet book (B is for Barn, G is for Garden, T is for Tractor, etc.), while some, like alfalfa, xanadu, and icicle will be new to most children but probably spark conversations. An enjoyable read, but the pictures really win in this book. ( )
