It was nice to read about Ellie and her friends after the war. I was very excited to read this book. I didn't find myself enjoying it as much as the tomorrow series, but I still really liked it ( )

"While I live" continues the story of Ellie Linton and her surviving friends from the "Tomorrow" series. Ellie is back on the farm, which is now alongside the border of the new country formed after the invasion detailed in the "Tomorrow" series. The book is as exciting and gripping as its predecessors but the believability of the story is stretched beyond the wildest reaches of imagination. While the fast-paced action of the Tomorrow series never really screams 'reality' the reactions and actions of the characters were easy to comprehend. In "While I Live" Eliie balances, running a farm, full time school and looking after a child single-handedly while still participating in the action sequences that made her character infamous. The motivation for the characters actions seem to have been glossed over for the sake of the plot leaving a book that feels much too much like a teen movie. ( )

Ongoing saga of a young woman coming of age during times of war. In this installment, her family is murdered and she needs to keep her homestead going in the face of an unscrupulous lawyer who is trying to gain control of her property. Some rough language and sexually mature themes. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0439783186, Hardcover)

For Ellie Linton, being back on the farm with her parents is what makes the terrible things that happened during the war -- the things she, Homer, Lee, Fi, and the others had to do -- all worthwhile. It's where she belongs.

But the war won't let her go. A devastating tragedy has shattered any hope she ever had to reclaim her life, or herself. It's a new kind of fight. And the enemy isn't always from the other side of the border.

Another spectacular novel of war and its consequences by bestselling author John Marsden.
