One of my favorite books for women, this describes the journey of a woman in life and faith. The ups, downs, misunderstandings and all. ( )

Definitely one of my favorite books and one that I recommend to all women to read. I think every 16 year old girl should read this to prepare for the future. It is a diary of one young girl into adulthood. Although it was written a long time ago it is still relevant today. It is a beautiful story of sanctification and spiritual maturity. If you haven't read this, hurry up! :-) ( )

This is one of my favorite fictional reads. It will encourage your walk with the Lord and inspire you to keep a journal. ( )

I LOVED this book. Amazing read. I think it was one of the first fiction books I ever read that changed my relationship with God. It is also the only novel to be added to my "read again" list.

It is a novel that is like a diary. Sometimes you get day by day and sometimes entire years are skipped--adding to the "real" factor of this book. After reading it, I wanted to write a book that was a diary. But, I don't have the discipline to make time to fully pursue that dream yet. ( )

This is one of my all-time favorite books. I think I've read it at least three times. I think I love it so much because it shows the faithfulness of God in sanctifying his children through trials and life circumstances. It is like watching the hand of God at work in a very relatable character as she gains wisdom and character.

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0873770781, Paperback)

""How dreadfully old I am getting! Sixteen!"" So begins 'Stepping Heavenward' by Elizabeth Prentiss, the journal-like account of a nineteenth century girl who learns, on the path to womanhood, that true happiness can be found in giving oneself for others. ""This book is a treasure of both Godly and womanly wisdom told with disarming candor and humility, yet revealing a deep heart's desire to know God,"" says noted Christian speaker Elisabeth Elliot. ""I do not hesitate to recommend it to men, who need to understand the wives they live with, and to any woman who wants to walk with God.""
