They were the perfect "comfort books" for when I was sick--gentle, sweet, funny, ... ... a lot of the Susanna Gregory novels recently set in medieval Cambridge and have been loving them!
Recently started Blue shoes and happiness which is, like the others in this series, a sheer pleasure and joy to read.
I got Tolstoy's Anna Karenina from the library but not sure when I'll ... I never made it as far as Blue Shoes and Happiness (for once I was reading a series in order...); I really liked the first one and that made me read a couple of others, but I found the charm wore off quite quickly - why is is that so often these things get done to death? A light-hearted trip into Botswana to spend some time in the office of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency with Precious Ramotswe and her associates (I use this term very lightly). I thought the story and “cases” very flat, but one gets ... A copy of The Quilter's Apprentice for my friend. For myself, Blue Shoes and Happiness. The set? of how many? He's still writing them, I've just picked up blue shoes and happiness, and I know there's another just released over here in hardback. ... he signed books for her.
I listen to them on audio (I love Lisette Lecat's voice, it's so melodical), I'm listening to Blue Shoes and Happiness these days, and I've read the books too.
I like the Sunday Philosophy Club series too, they take place in Scotland. ... and with more consistant internal logic.
I'm re-reading No. 1 Ladies detective agency as a run-up to the latest Blue Shoes and Happiness which I bought recently. I recoomend them to anyone who hasn't tried them, a gentle and charming crime series set in Botswana. Full of the joy of ... ... and the observations of traditional African life, according to Mma Ramotswe. I have one more book after this one, Blue Shoes and Happiness, and then the next one comes out in late April. I do enjoy looking forward to sequels in series that I love.

I've not read Blue Shoes yet, but I agree Precious is a good character. ... than I ultimately felt it was. I didn't hate it - but I didn't love it either. Fussy? Quite possibly.
I also finished Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith which was light and cheerful, as the series always is. I followed that up by reading A man without a country by K ... ... in the last 24 hours: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (for at home reading as I hate to lug around big hardbacks), and Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith (for lunchtime and travel reading). ... sale...
