This may be one of the best resources out there for anyone learning Latin, or just reading early Latin works. It's concise, it's accurate, and (considering its price) one of the best resources there is, outside of academia. ( )

Required reading when I studied Latin. ummmm. Older edition, of course. It is the best Latin Dictionary for a student that I'm familiar with. One of these days I'm going to sit down and read Ovid. And maybe Tacitus.

Well, morituri salutamus, and all that y'know. Valite. ( )

This is one of the better sources for more advanced Latin studies, a quite substantial volume.

A great dictionary for its price. I always recomend this edition to anyone who is a student of Latin who needs an affordable, comprehensive dictionary to work with. ( )

Preface
Cassell's Latin Dictionary first appeared in 1854, as the work of John Relly Beard (1800-76) and his son Charles Beard (1827-88). Both men were eminent Unitarian divines; the father in particular was well known as a minister and teacher in Manchester and the author or editor of many books, several of which were published by Cassell. From the outset the general form and scope of the book were very much the same as they are now.

Disambiguation notice
Cassel's Concise Latin-English Dictionary is presumed to be distinct from Cassel's Compact Latin-English Dictionaries and the full Cassell's Latin-English Dictionary. Please do not combine, unless you have personal knowledge of the relative contents of the various titles. Until the revision history of Cassell's Latin-English dictionaries are known, we are also keeping separate the Compact Editions compiled by Millicent Inglis Thomas and the editions compiled by the Marchants.
We also need to keep the one with 'New' in the title separate.
