... review .
Jenson_AKA_DL, I think I found a book marked both tbr and challenge, but let me know if Dust doesn't work for you - I've only read one book by Elizabeth Bear in a different series, and would be interested in what you think about it.
To whomever chooses ...
... any personal experience to share, though. At least not unless you want a general impression of the books I did read.
Dust (and from what I've heard Carnival) are possibly/probably better starting points with Bear's work because the scale is(/sounds) smaller.
I have now requested Carnival from the library because you've made me so curious. Dust is already in my TBR pile along with Blood and Iron by the same author.
... though I'm slowly branching out a little. Some of the last scifi novels I've read are
Slow River by Nicola Griffith
Dust by Elizabeth Bear
Libyrinth by Pearl North
If you're gathering/guessing that my scifi intake tends to come with a fairly high dose of fantasy elements, you'd be ...
... be Elizabeth Bear. I haven't read as much of her yet, but All the Windwracked Stars was WONDERFUL. And her SF book, Dust , was entirely enjoyable, and did have elements that would appeal to fantasy readers as well...I'm looking forward to publication of the sequel.
Also Jane Lindskol ...

I'm giving away a copy each of:
Mort by Terry Pratchett
Dust by Elizabeth Bear
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
Charmed Life by Diana Wynne Jones
The Vintner's Luck by Elizabeth Knox
Entry is open until Midnight GM ...
Polished off Dust by Elizabeth Bear and already 1/3 of the way through Shadowbridge by Gregory Frost.
Dust by Elizabeth Bear
Total books read: 14.5
Finished Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher and about to start Dust by Elizabeth Bear.
Just picked up Dust by Elizabeth Bear and Shadow Bridge by Gregory Frost.
... kind). I'd try to take something that shows what I'd appreciate reading the most, though, so it'd be something like Bear's Dust (Hush, I know I still haven't finished. But the writing... *numnum*) or The Vintner's Luck or Feast of Souls or The Last Unicorn or The Lions of Al-Rassan (I'd ...
I've left Temeraire's Britain behind a while ago and am now gathering Dust on/in the Jacob's Ladder together with Perceval and Rien.
... I'm slightly worried that it might be less enjoyable if not first read as a child or teen. I've also been wondering about Dust , but for that one I'm even more uncertain, the blurbs I've seen make it sound a bit messy in execution. Do any of you have good or bad things to say about these, or ...
... awry.) I also highly recommend it to younger (and older!) cat lovers, but that's neither here nor there. ^-~
Today I got Dust by Elizabeth Bear and... last Tuesday I got...
The Science of Discworld, the series of which I've been reading backwards. (Not as bad as WoT, though.)
The Hounds ...
Angels
Dust by Elizabeth Bear
Via BookMooch I received Dust by Elizabeth Bear. It looks like a very interesting read although it will have to wait its turn in my TBR pile.
... who are trying to protect the ecology of the planet, and get decent treatment and status for the aliens.
I also have Dust but have yet to read it. I like her as a writer so far.
... to read any of Bear's other work. That shall be remedied soon, however, as I have Carnival on my bookshelf and ordered Dust a couple of days ago.
A Companion to Wolves was very good as well, although I did enjoy Bear and Monette's individual works I've read more than that one.
I've recently read Dust , one of her Sci-Fi novels and my first ever book from hers, so I can't answer any of your questions except the first to say I thought it was a beautifully written book. I really loved the mix of science-fiction with a bit of religion, her unique look into mankind's future. ...
Nope, not Dust .
... seem to be making the page freak out, so I'm going to break this up into multiple posts.
Elizabeth Bear - Dust
Mixes hard scifi and mythology beautifully!
