Book description
The Duchesse de Gontaut undertook to write the story of her eventful life at the age of 80, urged by her granddaughter. In her youth, the duchess saw many famous figures at the court of Versailles where she was educated. After fleeing the Revolution, she returned to France at the Bourbon Restoration and became governess of the royal children.
