The best assessment of Dan Brown said he was "John Grisham with pseudoscience thrown in." It's been a long time since I read it, but would John Grisham's The Firm qualify? (wrong touchstone) #20 usnmm2...In my unpacking I found a few more of John Grisham's novels. I am about half way now and getting somewhat into it again. Really hard to know where this story is going, so don't give me any hints. A lot was not being said.

I have read many of John Grisham's novels but never heard of Playing for Pizza. I am not a football fan but love works by John Grisham. I might add that to my ever growing wish list. ... that fit in to their own sub-genre, why would John Grisham write books like Skipping Christmas, A Painted House or Bleachers which do not involve any courtrooms or lawyers? Or why would Jeffrey Archer write The Gospel According to Judas? It's a poor argument.

After that I read an older book my son found in his packed boxes. I remembered reading this book when he was small The book of Christmas - The Enchanted Wo ... After I finished Bleachers, I picked out a book, Air Apparent but took the night off from reading. I think I have been doing a book a day all week. Must be a coincidence with the easy books or something?? Already finished Bleachers. Took Air Apparent off the shelf; that'll be 25 in my second 50. ... ss).
I just decided to hit my TBR pile (not the one listed here, but my own with the actual books) and I am going to read Bleachers. Haven't read a Grisham in a while.

Karen ... I don't write a book like that. (yeah, right!) Other good popcorn for me are suspense/mystery novels: Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, Eric Lustbader come to mind. I always have a few of those on the TBR pile. One of these days my Shopaholic book will call to me.
