4430. I Remember Yesteryear, by Otha D. Wearin (read 24 Apr 2008) The author discusses 72 different topics of farming and farm life in days gone by. Some of the things he discusses I remember seeing in my early childhood, and have not thought of since. Others are before even my time--and sometimes before the author's. Some of the pieces are poignant for one who looks back fondly on his farm youth: rainwater cisterns, water witching, skim milk and separated cream, square nails, butter making, mail order catalog, seed corn, lightning rods, etc., etc. A fun book, though not very academic.
