I ended up enjoying The Pirate's Daughter. I like books that span a couple of generations, making it feel epic when it's over. I gave it 3.5 stars. I think what disappointed me at first was that it was a little less sexy and a little more sad than I wanted it to be.
Now I am brimming with ... ... read Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips. It was hilarious, intelligent and just pure fun. Tonight I will finish The Pirate's Daughter by Margaret Cezair-Thompson, which is good, but not what I was expecting and a bit of a let down after the previous two.
Next up is my April ER ... ... entertaining and satirical, all while being a quick, unputdownable read. Highly recommended.
Now I'm about 1/3 into The Pirate's Daughter by Margaret Cezair-Thompson. Since it takes place in Jamaica, I figured it would be a good candidate for a beach read. So far, it's not what I ... Great thread! :')
I'd say The Story of Forgetting has been my favorite, followed up by America, America and The Pirate's Daughter.

It's been a really busy week so quite slow reading-wise, but I finished The Pirate's Daughter today and really enjoyed it, I'd recommend that. It's not too heavy but not particularly light and fluffy either, the characters lead quite difficult ... I finished The Pirate's Daughter this morning and have now started Gods Behaving Badly. I also have The Stuff of Thought on the go for non-fiction but last week was a bit manic so I didn't get much reading done - hoping for more time on it this week! I also need to start Lord of Light for ... Finished up with The Pirate's Daughter, a lighter read, but a good way of learning about Jamaican history. There was a lot I didn't know, so it is a start. I look forward to reading more books from this area. I also read Their Eyes Watching God, from a writer who really influenced great ... ... by reading Petals of Blood, one of the best books of the challenge so far. Have decided to pull back a bit and read The Pirate's Daughter, for a bit of a relaxing read. ... Dictionary for Lovers (which I must be typing in wrong because I can't get the touchstone to work).
