RidgewayGirl, I hope you are enjoying The Angel's Game! Honestly, Garden Spells is a good palate cleanser. Just easy, fun, mystical, yummy. I adored Garden Spells. Are you planning on reading The Sugar Queen too? Just finished Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen from my "chick lit/comfort reads" category, and it was exactly that: a wonderful comfort read. I highly recommend it for hot, lazy, summer reading days! 4 stars due to an overuse of annoying adverbs like "tearily," but very, very fun. I finished Garden Spells today. Perfect book for lazy summer reading! Now I'm going to take another crack at my May ER book - Perfect Life by Jessica Shattuck. I'm hoping I'll take better to it this time around. I picked up Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen today. I needed a fun, light, riveting read, and this definitely fits the bill. I'm going to try hard not to stay up too late reading tonight... Currently reading Garden Spells, which is a combination of Practical Magic and Like Water for Chocolate. Via BookMooch so far this month I've received Garden Spells and Dragonborn. From a generous fellow LTer I received Dark Hunger (the manga) and via a deal I couldn't pass up on ebay I purchased Havemercy which was one of my fave books from 2008 previously taken out from the library. ... there are some out there.
As for fiction, there are probably more. The title that comes to my mind at the moment is Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. It is a story of sisters. One clings to her hometown as an anchor in her troubled life, and the other runs away as soon as she can, ... ... friend named Roxie. We met while working in a bookstore together.
I think the best book I've read this year, so far, is Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I would suggest The Pajama Girls of Lambert Square by Rosina Lippi and Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen if you've not read either of those. I'd categorize these both as lighter-leaning women's fiction with romantic elements. #37: I really enjoyed Garden Spells by Allen. Simple story of love and finding one's self. Garden Spells I finished Garden Spells which I loved and am now reading The Position by Meg Wolitzer and am enjoying it, too. I have been reading some really good ones, lately! #57 & 60 - I adored both Garden Spells and The Sugar Queen. Sarah Addison Allen writes such warm, inviting books!
I finished The Housekeeper and the Professor. What a great book, so touching. I then picked up Life is Short but Wide by J. California Cooper. Cooper's book is a gem of a ... After reading at least 4 books in a row by males (can't remember past that at the moment) I am more than halfway through Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen and adoring it. ... Fiends by Christopher Moore which I enjoyed (but not quite as much as Fluke).
I am now about halfway through Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen and am adoring it. A second vote for Garden Spells and a recommendation for Shelter Me by Juliette Fay which I loved. I laughed out loud more than once. I recommend it to anyone who needs a light, but well written and humorous read.

I really enjoy the magic in your books. I liked The Sugar Queen very much but Garden Spells is my favorite (so far). The apple tree stays with me. I think about it every now and again out of the blue. Do you embrace the term 'magical realism' or does ... I loved both Garden Spells and The Sugar Queen last year. I hope you enjoy TSQ when you get a chance to read it. I read Garden Spells last year and the writing seemed to be similar to that of Alice Hoffman. And, since Hoffman is one of my favorite authors, I found Garden Spells to be engaging.

Over the weekend I read Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen which was another really good read - some subtle magic and a great exploration of the characters. I'll be looking up The Sugar Queen, ... ... a while to get through! I don't mind that though, I just don't think it's a book to race through.

#48 and 49 I'm glad to hear you both liked The Sugar Queen--I'm planning to buy it soon, as I really liked Garden Spells. ... the female side, I finished The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen, which I thought was just as good as her first book, Garden Spells, and Wounded, A Love Story by Claudia Mair Burney, which I found to be a fantastic page turner! ... thought-provoking novel I finished in one sitting; The Sugar Queen, which I loved as much as Addison Allen's first novel, Garden Spells; and Wounded: A Love Story which was a page-turner for me.

Ok This was fluff, and romance and predictable, but it was also kind of nice. I listened to the audio book over a couple of long drives. I'll agree with Aviddiva's recommendation of Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen.
It is realistically magical and it's a nice, mostly gentle story but with a couple of ungentle bits too.

I enjoyed Garden Spells. It was a magical book! Started Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. I was familiar with the cover of the book but never actually read what it was about. When I finally did, I added it to my list of books to read. Not too far into it yet but am enjoying it. This morning I finished Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer and started Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen.

Bought this in Waterstones 3 for 2 offer because I liked the cover and it sounded like an okay story. It turned out to be a lot better than I expected and I am hoping that the authors next book takes place in Bascom and we get to see ... I was planning on picking up this book soon! Garden Spells was good; I'd recommend it. I read Garden Spells a couple of months ago and have just finished Sarah Addison Allen's second book, The Sugar Queen. Both are delightful and light.
