... I hadn't even noticed people coming and going through the front door of the dorms. I couldn't wait to read the next one The Drawing of the Three. I'm told the series gets better so I plan on reading the second book in the series, The Drawing of the Three, but not for awhile; I've got several books on the TBR pile that look more promising and I'm eager to get to them.

Back to ... ... I am currently flipping (or shuffling, for the initiated) back and forth between New York and the grey strand of beach in The Drawing of the Three. The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King
I read the whole series in one summer a couple years ago.
... Gunslinger(the first book) when I read it the first time but now that I've finished the series, it's a favorite.
Also, The Drawing of the Three is the second book (not the third). The third is The Wastelands. I, too, loved The Drawing of the Three but my personal favorite was the fourth ... ... a short and quick read. If you don't like, you haven't wasted much time. If you like, stay with it through the third book The Drawing of the Three as that is one of the best of the series. Phew, glad to have finished The Drawing of the Three !
SPOILER:
All that fuss with Detta Walker and then they simply fuse together as easy as anything - ??
I've grown to dislike all the gun stuff too, which may be a problem in further books seeing as how the protaganist is primarily ... The Drawing of the Three, up to p 344.
Oh My Gosh the section where Detta Walker is in Mid-World is SOOOO tedious !!! Finished Brideshead Revisited, which was amazing, and started The Dark Tower book 2: The Drawing of the Three. ... she does not particulary want to keep so anyone is welcome to them, we have here, The Summons by John Grisham and The Drawing of Three by Stephen King.

...which ... I think he first appears in The Drawing of the Three, I think that's where Jake first goes into the bookstore, but I don't know if it's where we get to know that bit about him. ... am now starting Wizard and Glass.
If you wish to read them, I posted reviews on the previous books: The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, and The Waste Lands.
I am really enjoying this series.
Onward! ... a DT book (though, I suspect, not actually Roland at all, 'cos I think you're being a bit crafty there). Could the book be The Drawing of the Three? I'm now thinking maybe a description of the Pusher? ... The Gunslinger. I feel like it was just a mere 230 page-long introduction to a much bigger work...
Well, on with The Drawing of the Three... Yeah. I knew a Dark Tower book was too easy. I'm not much a fan of the series myself, but The Drawing of the Three was pretty good anyway. And man, I'll never forget those lobstorities. How about The Drawing of the Three? Thinking of Detta/Odetta. It's been decades since I read that one though.
(Edit: That's why I think Stephen King is literature. I read The Drawing of the Three when it was first published in paperback in 1989, yet all these years later I still remember Dett ... ... with (a few) sci-fi trappings. Still, one of my very favorite books ever, ever, ever. Read it now! Also seek out The Drawing of the Dark, about the Crusades and wars among gods, On Stranger Tides about pirates and wizards, and especially The Stress of Her Regard about Romantic ... The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King ... the most brilliant book ever. It'll be interesting to see which camp I join.
From BookMooch: The Gunslinger and The Drawing of Three, both by Stephen King. They're the first two Dark Tower books. After getting book three and not realising it, I had to get the first two to read ... So, not The Stand, not Misery, not The Dark Half, not The Waste Lands, not The Drawing of the Three, not The Dark Tower (book 7 of the series) but you seem to be hinting at it being a Dark Tower series book.
So I am going to guess at The song of Susannah. ... very good, although I think The Gunslinger is my least favorite, it basically sets it all up for the rest of the books. The Drawing of the Three was great and so was The Waste Lands, I sped through them and couldn't put them down. If you like Stephen King and have read a lot of his other ... I'm going to de-lurk to guess The Drawing of the Three... The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King Also, Diana Paxton's Brisingamen and Tim Power's
The Drawing of the Dark - about a magic beer! 10. The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King (480 pp)
Started The Waste Lands yesterday.
I'm really enjoying this series, and I'm glad I can read them all back to back, but I'm a little concerned about reaching my (52 book) goal; these books are getting longer and longer. The Waste Lands ... #103 I've been reading the Tower series myself, and so far, The Gunslinger was my least favorite of them all, The Drawing of the Three is probably my favorite so far, I just finished Wizards and Glass which was good too - but it's definitely livelier with Eddie and Odetta/Susannah. Currently reading The Drawing of the Three. It is going much faster than The Gunslinger did. Probably because the POV switches fairly frequently. 9. The Gunslinger by Stephen King (300 pp)
Working on The Drawing of the Three now. 7. The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King - Book 2 of the Dark Tower is more narrative than its predecessor. Roland, with the Man in Black's tarot cards on his mind, finds three successive doors on a wasteland beach. Each door leads to New York - our world - and to fate.
The most ... ... sure I won't get much more reading done this year, what with the holidays coming up and all.
(In the order read):
1. The Drawing of the Three - Stephen King
2. Wizard's First Rule - Terry Goodkind
3. The Tommyknockers - Stephen King
4. Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & ... ... note, how about authors who mention themselves in their books?
I haven't read it but my mother says that Stephen King's Dark Tower series, has a scene of the characters in a library that is filled with Stephen King novels. At least one of the characters happens upon his own book - I want to ... ... parody?) on H.P. Lovecraft, Mr. X.
As for Stephen King I love his books but really didn't care much for the Dark Tower series. One that really impressed me was Desperation. It was so good to see him writing a story outside of Maine. Also, he pulled a neat trick by... I don't ... ... and I share different definitions of "reinvention" and/or "horror.") The only Stephen King I've ever read was The Dark Tower which I don't think was meant to be horror. Is there a book of King's you'd recommend, as a starting point? I am interested in giving his stuff a try.
At ... ... 5:
1. Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
3. The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King
4. Fanny Hill by John Cleland
5. Candide by Voltaire ... tucking kids into bed or making dinner; and a few graphic novels like the oh so wonderful Transmetropolitan series or The Dark Tower redo. I also get to re-live some wonderful memories reading children's books now that my daughter is old enough for good reads - we're on White Fang right ... Jack Mort from Stephen King's The Drawing of the Three. I'd put him ahead of any of the other King characters mentioned in this thread. Certainly a better drawn character than the tediously derivative Pennywise.
I decided to go with The Dark Tower finally. Read The Gunslinger on Saturday, and about half of The Drawing of Three on Sunday. Got to say I was pretty impressed. Roland might just be the only character Ive read about who is as tough as Lan is. ... in Mirford and Looking for Alaska), I've started A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers. I'm also still reading The Drawing of the Three. I've just started At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. I had stopped reading The Drawing of Three so that I could finish some others; I've picked it back up. Just finished The Drawing of the Three (Stephen King): the Dark Tower series is shaping up quite nicely...
