Like the other books in the Minisiers "World of Ds9" this book contained two distinct stories by different authors and one was significantly better than the other. in this case the Story by Decandio about Ferginar was fantastic. The descriptions about the world seldom seen on T.V. was great the story of Quark trying to once again weasel his way into the Negus's favor, why still standing by the idea that RThe om is an idiot is hilarious. The "relationship" between he and Ro Lauren develops well and is worth 5 stars on its own.

Unlike the others in the series the less good story is not horrible. George is getting better, but he went from one extreme to the other. The last "re-launch" title he wrote had like 90 chapters in it, this one has only 7. The story focuses mostly off site at the new "changeling homeworld" The descriptions of the changeling lifestyle outside of being as a solid leave something to be imagined, and that imagination didn't do well for me. Also some of the ideas dont' seem quite in line with what we know of the the Changelings from T.V. such as the founders having belief in their own god. Also the secondary story, focuses back in the alpha quadrant and mostly on the station is were the real interest is, certainly they are setting us up for a T'arnatar focused story to come, one that the prelaunch serious desperately needs. Also at least twice we are lead to believe that one of beloved characters dies, do they? Well I won't let that out, and I'm not sure if George does either. This story probably detersives a 3 on its own, leading the book to a 4 star. ( )

Keith R. A. DeCandido takes us to Feringinar with Quark and Ro Laren, then David R. George III offers a tale about Odo, Taran’atar, and the Dominion. While not as compelling as other books in this series, Niners should read this books to keep up with the ongoing relaunch.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0743483537, Mass Market Paperback)

THE DOMINION: Odo continues his efforts -- begun on DS9 -- to understand his shape-shifting people, The Founders, and why they felt driven to conquer the Federation. His quest leads him unexpectedly to questions about the gods and their creations ...and what those creations do when they believe that those gods have forsaken them. FERENGINAR: Political turmoil threatens to unseat Rom from the leadership of the Ferengi Alliance. A scandal involving criminal charges against Rom's former wife uncovers secrets which could not only bring him down but could undermine all the well-meaning changes his regime has introduced. Worse still, hardcore capitalist Quark has been enlisted by Rom's political adversaries to join forces with them against him, with promises of all the wealth and success Quark has ever dreamed of ...as long as he helps them to overthow his brother.
