An informative book on weather in the typical Seuss way even though he didn't write it. Fun. I find some of the illustrations to be a little too busy, but this is Seuss. ( )

This fictional story follows the Cat in the Hat and his friends as they experience a wide variety of weather. The group is traveling in a hot air balloon. The text uses rhyme to help children learn about new exciting vocabulary within the field of weather. Students learn about different types of weather as well as the different types of technology used to predict or read the weather. ( )

The Cat and company travel by hot air balloon up and into various weather phenomena including rain, snow, thunder, tornadoes, and hurricanes! Along the way there's information about thermometers,cloud formations, humidity, fog, weather folklore, and how to stay safe in lightning.

Teachers could do numerous activities with this book. Weather activities could be taught on numerous grade levels. Students love read alouds so this book would be great to incorporate with weather activities. Also, teachers could use this book for read across America week.
