This is a story about Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Great Grandmother, Martha Morse, as a little girl in Scotland. It tells a lot about what life was like in Scotland in the late seventeen hundreds for a girl whose father owned a lot of land with tenants, and also includes a lot of literature from the period in the form of stories and songs throughout the book. This book focuses on Martha’s interest in her cousins’ house on the far side of the loch. ( )
