An interesting story more like Crime and Punishment, but with an epilog which can be spotted from the opening pages. However, it is Woolrich, and he can keep you going even through stalled plot lines and fantastic scenerios. ( )

The best novel from Woolrich's later period, but far below his classics. A few intense passages, constantly readable, but filled with clunker sections and ridiculous plot. Not the book to start with if you want to read Woolrich.

Nor God nor man will tell you now
What you must do, or when, or how—
