The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks is the touching story of a single mom devoted to her special needs preschooler, determined to help him adapt to the world, though he seems unable to communicate. When she meets a kind man who serves as a volunteer fireman, who actually seems to care not just for her, but also her complicated young son, her world seems to open up for the better, but is it too good to be true? Relationships get complicated and emotions run high, and as the characters shed tears of both joy and despair, so are the readers brought to tears as well. A beautiful story. ( )

I loved this book so much. It’s been so long since I’ve read a Nicholas Sparks book. The entire time I could see a movie going through my head as I read it. ( )
