We were fortunate to have a dinner with Françoise one evening when we were in Bhutan. She grew up in the Congo, studied art history and archaeology at the Sorbonne and did her doctoral work on Tibetan culture. She has lived and worked as an ethnologist in Bhutan since 1981 and is considered the world's leading expert on Bhutan. We found ourselves referring to the book daily. ( )
