Book: Wheels of Time: Biography of Henry Ford
Author: Catherine Gourley
Characters: Henry Ford
Setting: Detroit, MI 1800’s
Theme: Dreaming Big
Genre: Biography for children
Audience: 10 (advanced readers)/ 12 +
Curriculum: I can see this being used in a history class for the 1800’s and learning about the industrial era or in an English class to learn the importance of biographies and style of the writing.
Summary: Overview of Henry Ford’s life from birth to his death and describing the events that made the man one the greatest inventors.
Personal Response: Love the pictures, poems and quotes from Ford himself. These small details add to the depth of Ford and give the reader deeper insight to the legendary man. Although the text is small it is still a good read of information that tells how Ford became to be so great. ( )
