Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are back on Earth, and they each have a task, that is, a miracle to accomplish. But there are restraints even on angels, and they must abide by the rules. This delightful novel tells the stories of three different people, what they prayed for, and what happened when the angels got to work. Since it is a Debbie Macomber Christmas book, readers of her books will probably guess how it ends. Still, it is a quick and lovely book to read, at Christmas time or any time. ( )

Light and easy without being a tear-jerker like I've heard some of Macomber's other novels can be. The angels make for fun characters. The story-line isn't too intricate but you don't read books like this for that purpose. Sometimes you just want to smile and feel good. This is like the wine-cooler on the back porch with a good friend. You're not drinking great wine in France, but the company makes the atmosphere just as enticing...at least for the evening. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0778325156, Hardcover)

Christmas is a time for angel.

Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are back! These three irresistible angels love their assignments on Earth. They especially love helping people who send prayer requests to Heaven (even though the Archangel Gabriel, their boss, knows they're going to break his rules)!

This Christmas, Mercy is assigned to bring peace of mind to an elderly man— who discovers an unexpected answer to his prayer.

Goodness is sent to oversee the love life of a young woman afraid to risk commitment a second time. And Shirley has the task of granting a little boy's fondest Christmas wish.

Shirley, Goodness and Mercy go wherever they're needed. These three charming angels often find themselves in trouble, but somehow things always work out for the best—especially at Christmas.

Archangel Gabriel and his three mischievous Prayer Ambassadors--Shirley, Goodness and Mercy--lend their celestial aid to three needy Christmas cases. Harry Alderwood, 86, prays that his increasingly forgetful wife, Rosalie, will agree to move into assisted living before he dies. Meanwhile, nine-year-old Carter Jackson begs God for a dog, even though his mother and father tell him that they can't afford to keep a pet, while Beth Fischer's mother prays that her divorced paralegal daughter, nightly engrossed in a World of Warcraft online game, will start a new life.… (more)
