Field of Dishonor is a tragic book, one in which Honor Harrington endures the loss of a lot of things, while finally dealing with a couple of loose ends that have harangued her since Basilisk Station. I don't want to say much more, because of how much hangs on spiolers, but in spite of knowing damn well what was going to happen because of the conventional plot devices, I felt Honor Harrington's loss as clearly as she might have felt it. There's no space combat in Field of Dishonor, one of the few Honor Harrington books not to have any, but it doesn't need it.

One of the best Honor Harrington books out there, read it right after reading The Short Victorious War. ( )
