Nicolette and Salvatore had always been together, growing up in a brothel on Drury Lane in London. They were bound together not only by circumstance and a love of music, but by the fact that they were both bastard children of men of the ton. When Salvatore came up with a plan to ruin his hated half-brother, using Nicolette to seduce and leave him neither expected the new dimension their relationship would take when they discover their jealousy and desire for each other. Soon Salvatore must choose between his need for revenge and his need for the woman who has always been a part of him.

As always, I am a sucker for the friends to lovers themed story. I enjoyed that this historical romance worked around the fact that both Salvatore and Nicolette were strong and talented people individually who trusted each other with everything. Although Salvatore could have been a real jerk with pushing Nicolette to consummate their plan, I liked that he left everything up to her. Oftentimes these kind of stories end up rife with accusations and misunderstandings which annoys me, but although the story did possess its fair share of angst, it managed to steer clear of the overly messy back and forth blame game.

I enjoyed this historical romance and felt that the background of the characters and the fact that they were musicians made it rather unique for the genre. Recommended! ( )

Book description
From Amazon: A Dangerous Game By Julia Templeton Salvatore Tremayne has lived with a burning hatred toward the father who denied him his birthright...and the brother who received all the glory. Raised in one of London's most infamous brothels, Salvatore and his partner Nicolette have climbed from struggling musicians to London's most sought-after entertainers. But even success can not satisfy the vengeance Salvatore craves toward his dead father and his heir, the Earl of Kedgwick. When an opportunity arises to play at his brother's engagement party, Salvatore puts a plan into motion Nicolette will seduce the earl, and convince him not to marry the Duke of Durham's daughter. Thereby causing further scandal of the Kedgwick name and denying the earl the rich dowry. Nicolette, who has no experience with intimacy, asks Salvatore to teach her how to make love, so that she can properly seduce the earl. Little does Salvatore know that Nicolette has been in love with him for years. All of that changes with one night of passion. Now Salvatore is questioning what is more important to him revenge, or the love of the woman he might lose...to the very man he hates most of all.
