Wow! Hey! I fell really smart now! :D Our family loves Adam and Jamie, THE Mythbusters. I don't often get to watch their show as I like to be able to pay full attention to it and not just watch sporadically and miss important points. We have it on dvd so I will begin watching it soon. Elijah and I have just finished the first of two sets of Dirty Jobs and I will pick up with Mythbusters after Dirty Jobs. What did I learn? I learned that no one is going to be killed by a penny dropped from the Empire State Bulding...even if the penny could reacht hte ground and not a lower observation deck. Oh, and I even learned I have no fear of my new boobies ever exploding mid-flight, even if there is a great pressure change in the cabin. ( )

All of the myths in this book were investigated on the television show, so there is nothing really new here. Still, it is fun to read the stories again, and the first few pages contains some biographical information about Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage, and Peter Rees. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 141690929X, Paperback)

Leave no urban myth untested.

Could you kill someone by dropping a penny from a skyscraper? Can an unsuspecting scuba diver be sucked out of the water by a firefighting helicopter and get spit out in the middle of a forest fire? Can you save yourself in a plummeting elevator by jumping just before it hits bottom?

Special effects experts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, hosts of the Discovery Channel's top-rated MythBusters, use modern-day extreme science to show you what's real and what's fiction. With photographs, illustrations, blueprints, and exclusive interviews to document the mythbusting process, MythBusters: The Explosive Truth Behind 30 of the Most Perplexing Urban Legends of All Time will examine dozens of urban legends, from exploding toilets to being buried alive -- these guys have tested them all. Eye-opening, jaw-dropping, and even laugh-inducing, this book will delight armchair scientists, curious readers, and fans of the show alike. Keith and Kent Zimmerman are the New York Times bestselling coauthors of Hell's Angel and The Best Damn Sports Book, Period, among others.
