I fell in love with falling up back in grade school. This book is full of wonderful poems, ryhmes, limericks, and silly stories aabout everything to absolutely nothing. This book is great for young kids to build their imagination while reading these stories. This book is full of hilarious tales that are both traditional and modern.

I feel like there is nothing I could ever try to write that would really get across how much a part of my life this book, and all of Silverstein's poetry collections have been for me. Instead, I will let Mr. Silverstein himself explain exactly why it might be, that I find his poetry right for me.

The Voice
There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
'I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.'
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What's right for you--just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.

This book is a good example of poetry because it is relevant to children and good poetry. With the use of creative wording, Silverstein connects with children while showing the importance of poetry.

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0060248025, Hardcover)

Millie McDeevit screamed a scream
So loud it made her eyebrows steam.
She screamed so loud
Her jawbone broke,
Her tongue caught fire,
Her nostrils smoked...

Poor Screamin' Millie is just one of the unforgettable characters in this wondrous new book of poems and drawings by the creator of Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic. Here you will also meet Allison Beals and her twenty-five eels; Danny O'Dare, the dancin' bear; the Human Balloon; and Headphone Harold.

So come, wander through the Nose Garden, ride the Little Hoarse, eat in the Strange Restaurant, and let the magic of Shel Silverstein open your eyes and tickle your mind.
