( ) I remember not being very impressed with Ms. Luke's "Catherine the Queen," probably because I'd just finished the superb Garrett Mattingly "Catherine of Aragon" biography. While "A Crown for Elizabeth," too, is more a popular read than a scholarly work, I found it very thought provoking. It continues the Tudor family soap opera through Queen Elizabeth I's accession from the points of view of the three Tudor half-sibs: Edward, Mary and Elizabeth. Much better than expected. no reviews | add a review
