How would you like to be a real king for one day? Sound too good to be true? With Skeeve’s luck, of course it is! Not only does Massha arrive begging to be Skeeve’s apprentice, but the king’s new bride, Hemlock, is expected any day. Add the Mob, subtract Aahz, throw in a bazaar full of Deveels, and Skeeve may have bitten off more than he can handle. To quote Skeeve himself, " When things are blackest, I just tell myself, " cheer up, things could be worse!" And sure enough, they get worse!" Fans of British humor will love the zany world play and quirky plots of Asprin’s MYTH series. Skeeve’s antics and escapades provide a nice break from reality along with a great deal of wry laughter.

Castles and courts suck.

Skeeve is left with a lot more than he really wants to have to deal with, let alone just the whole court magician gig. The king bails out due to impending nuptials, and this then leaves someone's mother mad at him, not to mention a fairy godfather, of the somewhat mafioso flavor, as opposed to the Glinda flavour.
