I would like to be able to buy-into advaitan philosophy but I cannot, at least not as presented by the authors I have read to date. This book suffers from both a poor translation and the effort to transcribe the untranscribable. But it is a book that every student of advaita should read, and I am glad I read it. If duality (dvaita) is the price I must pay to enjoy the world I live in, so be it! The only book you ever need to read. I have two copies and take one with me when I travel. This is my desert island book. So simple and unconditional. Manditory reading. An absolute Classic. It gave me goose pimples when I first read it. The book is in the shape of Q&A. Maharajs answers are mind churning. They are like a sharp and bright beacon revealing the secrets of the Timeless essence -which we are. Read it many times to get the full measure of it. For heaven's sake (and your own), throw away Tolle. This is the real McCoy. Crystal clear, loving, accepting and totally blissed out. A companion piece for the novel The Secret Magdalene by Ki Longfellow. no reviews | add a review

| Book description |
|
"I Am That" preserves Maharaj's dialogues with the followers who came from around the world seeking his guidance in destroying false identities. The sage's sole concern was with human suffering and the ending of suffering. It was his mission to guide the individual to an understanding of his true nature and the timelessness of being. He taught that mind must recognize and penetrate its own state of being, "being this or that, here or that, then or now," but just timeless being.
