Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail by Malika Oufkir

Stolen Lives was quite engrossing, non-fiction, and terrifying. It is a story of a family of women and their years spent in jail and the ways in which they comforted and loved one another.
I have read The Cairo Trilogy and enjoyed each of the books. Mahfouz has a way of writing which draws ...
I'm reading a memoir right now that would fit:
Stolen Lives , by Malika Oufkir. Malika's father, a Moroccan general, was executed after a failed coup. Malika, her mother, siblings, and two others were imprisoned for 20 years. Their story of hardship and survival is compelling.
... King and his harem. However, things are going to get ugly soon since this is a memoir of a woman's 20-year imprisonment: Stolen Lives .
I have two non-fiction works going at the moment: Stolen Lives , a memoir by Malika Oufkir, and A People's History of the United States which I'm taking in small doses and finding quite fascinating.
We read Stolen Lives in our book club and we were all quite moved by it. I am still reading The Black Book by Orhan Pamuk. I cannot move swiftly through his prose. It is too lovely, layered and the the plot is fascinating on many levels. A read to be savored!
I have two books going at the moment. I just started Malika Oufkir's memoir, Stolen Lives , last night. I'm also reading A People's History of the United States. I'm about 20% into that one, and it's quite interesting, but easier for me to read a chapter here and there than to read all in one ...

Need some help deciding my April read. Should it be Brick Lane by Monica Ali or Stolen Lives by Malika Oufkir?
Is the April read to be fiction only?
I have the book Stolen Lives:Twenty Years in a Desert Jail sitting on my bookshelf and begging to be read. It's non-fiction, but I think it might fit in with what others will be reading in April. It's the story of a Moroccan woman who was imprisoned ...
