This is the third Camel Club book and they just get better!!!

I don't want to say too much - because nothing should be given away.

I will say that this picks up the story right after The Collectors.

Loose ends are tied up - new ravelings are discovered and teased open to leave gapping holes in the known past.

The Camel Club is important, but they are not the center of the story - instead Oliver and Annabelle are.

Oliver Stone/John Carr is amazing.

All I can say is BRAVO David Baldacci!!!

Read this one for sure - but not before you have read The Camel Club and The Collectors!!! ( )

Not my favorite 'Stone' novel but it passes the time ok. ( )

This is my first book by Baldacci and I found it a bit confusing at first with the flood of names but then I read it out of order in a series. After 1/3 into the book I was pleasantly hooked by the story. My only complaint is that the episodes in the story tend to be a little too pat...too easily accomplished. There are twists in the story to blunt this feeling but I like to feel that I am a part of the character but especially at first it had a Robert Ludlum style of one assassination after the other...whereas I prefer the Fredrick Forsyth approach. Baldacci's style lies somewhere in between the two with a slight lean to Ludlum's style.

Quick read, interesting characters, I will read more of his work. ( )

Fast moving with short chapters and reads like an action movie. You can almost imagine your favorite movie stars in the main roles. While not great literature, it is enjoyable and a fast read. Lots of killing, no sex, stereotypical characters with convenient plot lines to move the action along.. I can actually neither recommend nor dis the book. But would think it proper for political thrill junkies or teens looking for a "clean" yet fast moving plot. ( )

I am a big fan of David Baldacci. He writes with intelligence and wit. His Camel Club series has rapidly become one of my favorite book series. If you like John Grisham, but wish there was more plot and less predictable filler, then Baldacci is a good choice. ( )

Harry Finn rose as usual at six-thirty, made coffee, let the dog out into the fenced backyard for its morning constitutional, showered, shaved, woke the kids for school and oversaw that complicated operation for the next half hour as breakfasts were gulped, backpacks and shoes grabbed and arguments started and settled.

The #1 bestselling author of The Collectors and Simple Genius returns with STONE COLD...an unforgetable novel of revenge, conspiracy, and murder that brings a band of unlikely heroes face-to-face with their greatest threat.

Oliver Stone, the leader of the mysterious group that calls itself the Camel Club, is both feared and respected by those who've crossed his path. Keeping a vigilant watch over our leaders in Washington, D.C., the Camel Club has won over some allies, but it has also earned formidable enemies-including those in power who will do anything to prevent Stone and his friends from uncovering the hidden, secret work of the government.

Annabelle Conroy, an honorary member of the Camel Club, is also the greatest con artist of her generation. She has swindled forty million dollars from casino king Jerry Bagger, the man who murdered her mother. Now he's hot on her trail with only one goal in mind: Annabelle's death. But as Stone and the Camel Club circle the wagons to protect Annabelle, a new opponent, who makes Bagger's menace pale by comparison, suddenly arises.

One by one, men from Stone's shadowy past are turning up dead. Behind this slaughter stands one man: Harry Finn. To almost all who know him, Finn is a doting father and loving husband who uses his skills behind the scenes to keep our nation safe. But the other face of Harry Finn is that of an unstoppable killer who inevitably sets his lethal bull's-eye on Oliver Stone. And with Finn, Stone may well have met his match.

As Annabelle and the Camel Club fight for their lives, the twists and turns whipsaw, leading to a finale that is as explosive as it is shattering. And when buried secrets are at last violently resurrected, the members of the Camel Club left standing will be changed forever.

With unrelenting pacing, stunning reversals, and two of the most compelling characters in modern fiction, STONE COLD is David Baldacci writing at his breathtaking best.
