This book does an interesting job of teaching letters with initial sounds, which is great for any beginner phonics lesson. The picture support is also strong, which is helpful to young learners. ( )Each letter has something bad happen to it and we have to guess what it is based on the charcoal illustrations. I love the way the layout of this story keeps us in suspense - we don't know the answer until we turn the page! This is a great book to read when you are teaching the alaphabet to your students or children. It is an exciting and fun read. This is a great book to use to get your kids involved in the reading because they can guess what happens to each letter in the story. I love how each letter is a different act in a play. Overall this is a very creative story! I absolutely adored this book and used to read it to my daughter; she told me many years later how it scared her! Oops, didn't think of that. Just a heads-up to parents of small children, sometimes you never know what's going on in those little heads. A fun way to learn the alphabet!
