This one has a few more anchors to the past than most. Interesting references to scars and events in France it's a story of a woman who uses a man as a shield and then has to pay him back for the shielding, along with the past catching up with people and making a mess of things.

Thornton Lindsay is an interesting character, a little to angst ridden sometimes but otherwise you can understand some of his caution. Caroline is also interesting but she keeps running away from people when they offer help, which is a bit counterintuitive. Still both together are fun even if some of the details are a little dodgy once they discover some of the truths about each other. Diverting but not quite enough. ( )
