This book is the 4th in the Lakeshore Chronicles. International lawyer Sophie Bellamy experiences an event that causes her to redefine her life. Moving to Avalon to be near her children who took second place to her career, Sophie works to rebuild her life and sense of family. In addition, she finds her heart opening to Noah Shepherd, the local veterinarian. A warm read for a cold winter's day. ( )I was determined not to read Sophie's story. I hadn't liked her in previous books and was anticipating that her cold, distant personality would make it difficult to have her as the main character. I was wrong. Sophie's story is every bit as good as Jenny and Roarke's in Winter Lodge and Greg and Nina's in Dockside. Sophie, international lawyer and absentee Mom, returns from years of work overseas to be with her 12 year old son Max and 19 year old daughter (with baby) Daisy. They are sceptical that she's here to stay because what could a small sleepy town like Avalon offer a high profile European jurist? Well, Noah Shepherd for one thing! Hunky neighbour vet rescues her from a car accident in a snowstorm and he gets smitten and stays smitten. She's more cuatious but realizes that he flips her switch with his simple life and sexy smile. Only when she's up to her eyeballs in love, does she find out he's ten years younger than her!!! Anyway - story is good. We find out why she presented such a cold front in every other book. It was armour against vulnerability. Try this story - give Sophie a chance - you'll be glad you did! traded 07/25/08 FR Sophie Bellamy returns to Avalon NY to try and reclaim her life with her children. Sophie's career as an international lawyer has kept her fulfilled, but after she is taken hostage and nearly dies in terrorist event in Hollarnd, she realizes that family is more important than anything. She doesn't count on falling in love again...especially with someone 10 years her junior. This is the 4th book in Wiggs' Lakeshore Chronicles series about the Bellamy family. It's fun to revisit former characters and as always, Wiggs is a great storyteller. 3.189 seconds to build listing no reviews | add a review
