Am I the only person who cannot read this author's books? I get past phrases like "Dyson said the words to himself as he shinned agilely from branch to branch" but then a few pages later "Tweed climbed out from behind the wheel of the Ford Escort followed by the sturdy Harry Butler" and I give up completely. Even a Ford escort has at least two doors and if 'sturdy' is supposed to tell me something about Harry . . . . Forbes' novels may entertain the reader who can put up with this kind of thing but I find it too depressing to go on! I was perhaps a little prejudiced having just read a Len Deighton (brilliant) followed by a Jack Higgins (not in the same class but at least his characters have a little depth. ( )
