Tiger Woods’ How I Play Golf is a great instructional book that I have read, and constantly revisit to get tips and free lessons from arguably the best golfer ever himself. It is fun to read and good for players of all ages. I started playing golf with my dad when I was younger and I continue to play with him today. Golf, as many know, is a game of struggle and constant challenges and rewards. Through Tiger Woods’ novel, Tiger himself teaches the reader/golfer lessons and strategies of how he personally plays his favorite game. He instructs the reader what to do from driving the ball, to what to do when caught in the sand. Tiger goes through each part of the game thoroughly and makes this book very enjoyable to read. I would recommend this book to all players, from beginners to experts. I feel while he wrote this book his goal was to target all players and to make this instruction worthwhile for all players. ( )I started playing golf for real just a few years ago, and this book helped me incredibly. It taught me to concentrate on the fundamentals rather than just trying to hit the ball as hard as I can. Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0446529311, Hardcover)No athlete has changed his sport the way Tiger Woods has transformed the world of golf. The Tiger phenomenon has created a new legion of golfers, seduced by Woods's almost effortless mastery of this most difficult game. In How I Play Golf Woods reveals the many facets of his game and offers a plethora of tips and advice aimed at all levels of play. Unlike most golf guides, and perhaps somewhat surprising from a player best known for his long game, How I Play Golf begins with the short game--putting, chipping, and pitching--before moving onto swing mechanics and hitting off the tee. Produced in conjunction with the editors of Golf Digest, the book is lavishly photographed and illustrated and offers a gold mine of useful ideas and mental images Tiger has collected over the years. Throughout, Tiger recounts memorable shots from his relatively brief career; for example, his only "perfect" shot (a 3-wood on No. 14 at St. Andrews) and his first putt at the 1995 Masters (a 20-footer for birdie on No. 1 that missed and rolled off the green). How I Play Golf is not only a first-rate instructional guide, it also communicates a passion and respect for the game that beginners, hackers, and low handicappers should find inspiring. Highly recommended. --Harry C. Edwards(retrieved from Amazon Tue, 05 Jan 2010 11:50:25 -0500) The first test round has been closed. Visit the Open Shelves Classification group for details. |
