Includes first person accounts from the bombing of Pearl Harbor, POW Edith Shacklette, excerpts from the unedited diary of the only woman POW of the German's, ANC Reba Whittle, excerpts frpm Charity Adam's Earley's book, a WAC who served at SHAEF, and a WAC cryptographer who served in the field in Europe. Also included a WAVE who worked on plans for Operation Overlord, a white WAVE assigned to hospital duty on a black ward. This same Navy WAVE was almost raped twice and was also molested by a lesbian WAVES (is too much to happen to one poor WAVE?) STories of WASPs, OSS and Red Cross as well. THis book is interesting, but all oral histories have their limitations (some people's accuracy declines with age, others are prone to exagerate, etc.) and cannot simply be accepted as bona fide fact.
