ACHTERKANT:

Tijdens het lopende en angstwekkend stilgehouden onderzoek naar de moord op koningin Nefertete, wordt de vertrouwde raadgever van de farao, Heer Meren, plotseling weggeroepen om de bizarre dood te onderzoeken van Senna, het favoriete kamermeisje van de farao. Hoewel er al drie mensen bij haar dood betrokken schijnen te zijn, voelt Meren dat er een groter kwaad aan het werk is. Maar wanneer zijn persoonlijke eer in het geding is door hofintriges en een mislukte aanval op Lybische bandieten aan de grens, wordt Meren ter dood veroordeeld. In een heftige politieke strijd om zijn leven te redden - en zijn goede naam - wil Meren tot elke prijs aan de weet komen wie de vijanden zijn die zijn positie aan het hof ondermijnen.
