It's standing the test of time. I've had it since I was a kid. I tried buying a newer dictionary--Oxford--and quickly discovered how consistently I couldn't find a word in that book but it was in this one. So I continue to read with my chosen book in my hands and this dictionary (if I'm away from the computer, which I do intentionally) sitting next to me. ( )

The stereotype of the school dictionary, Merriam-Webster is accurate, concise, and more-or-less unremarkable. Nowadays, it is best used when the internet is unavailable or otherwise undesirable. ( )

NO JUST NO!!! I could not believe everything this book taught me! THIS BOOK CAN CHANGE LIVES!!!!!! With words like monkey and fudge you are sure to learn a lot. Teachers listen up, GREAT BOOK!!! Read it if you have not! ( )

A new dictionary for a new generation. But the binding is rather chintzy. After only a few years about 20 pages have come loose from the binding. My 1964 pocket dictionary, on the other hand, is intact. They don't make 'em like they used to...
