Excellent! This book got me sketching again and creating art after a long hiatus. Very inspirational, well written and fun. ( )

This is a very good book about creativity. It is not only inspiring, but Danny Gregory definitely has a grasp of the creative process and makes great suggestions for getting into your own creative self. It inspired me to begin keeping a creative journal (a little different from just a sketchbook). I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to think outsidt the box. ( )

This is a great book for those of us who's often wanted to draw but think we can't. Danny explains that most of us draw from symbols formed by our brains rather than what we actually see before us. He compares drawing to driving and explains how we need instruction (not in-born talent!) and practice to do it well. Danny recommends drawing with a pen and making it a habit, as well as keeping a journal. The idea is to really study the object slowly; follow the lines, curves, etc with our eyes and draw in an unhurried manner. Written in an avuncular tone with just the right amount of coaxing and pushing, and lots of humour (not the irritating kind) thrown in. I made a few drawings and am really pleased with what I came up with!

Chock full of scans from Danny Gregory's journals and the journals of others, this book inspired me to draw more and be less critical about my drawing. Danny Gregory is a rare individual - check out his blog at www.dannygregory.com. ( )
