 ... but you learn a lot about China and it's customs. It's a sad book, just to warn you. There's a shorter version called Chinese Cinderella which only focuses on her childhood ... Pretty good, filthy, have to say it got a bit boring towards the end but definitely a worthwhile read. Cleverly done.

-->Replaced for a similar reason as Jonanthan Strange was. Already "been" to China a few times with my armchair travels ... I am reading The Chinese Cinderella, really good book so far, not a thick one, but have so much going on, savoring it really.
It kind of reminds me of The Boy Called It, But the abuse isnt as bad.
ThePam, I live near St Louis, the tracts sound neat! For billythefish, Chinese Cinderella was much better than Falling leaves}. Same story, but just a shorter version about her childhood written for young adults. Loved it but couldn't get into Falling Leaves.
