I'm a sucker for big changes to big characters. this was handled really well and it made me want to read more of ed Brubaker's stuff ( )A compilation of the books detailing the assassination of Captain America, and the events immediately following, which includes the appearance of the Red Skull, Bucky (now the Winter Soldier, and quite a formidible force in his own right) and others. I've apparently missed out on a lot of the events preceding this, particularly those involving Sharon Carter (Cap's lover and a SHIELD agent) and Bucky. But the story is not too convoluted, and has some quite moving aspects, particularly the scene of Steve Rogers' body after death reverses the effects of the serum that gave him his physical abilities. Still, it's impossible to ignore the suspicion that Marvel would never permanently kill such an icon, and that they may be going the way that DC did several years ago with the "death" of Superman. Death is never a certainty in these comics, even when there's a body. I hope they handle it better than DC did, if that's their agenda. no reviews | add a review
