I found this novel a definite page-turner. Set in the difficult post-war era, two innocents Charlotte and her best friend Arietta are just starting out in life, leaving home and discovering true love. Meanwhile the likes of Gray Wyndham and Leandra Fortescue are desperately trying to re-build their lives damaged by the war. The increasingly complicated story of Charlottes planned 'marriage of convenience' is set against a backdrop of a dying age of glamour and high society. ( )
