This book purports to be a wide ranging survey of German attempts at developing fifth column organizations in the run-up to World War II. Written by a thinly disguised American communist, a feature writer for leftist newspapers and magazines such as the New York Daily Worker and the New Masses, it describes in great detail, but without documentation, subversive activities in the UK, US, Czechoslovakia, and Latin America. Written in the best muckraking style, it is of interest primarily as a reflection of the leftist view and propaganda in the period immediately prior to the signing of the Nazi-Soviet Pact. ( )
