In this collection of 13 stories, Frank Fencepost and Silas Ermineskin cause a riot on a nude beach in Vancouver, chit-chat with the Queen in her bedroom, and take their hockey team, the Hobbema Wagonburners, on the road. Throughout it all Frank and Silas remain undaunted, though not always unbloodied, as they and their fellow Cree pit themselves against travel agents, bureaucrats, used-car dealers and the RCMP.
