Wonderful book with wonderful pictures by Arnold Lobel, a brilliant illustrator. Jean van Leeuwen actually tells stories about real little children, not the saccharine or moralistic versions you get most of the time. ( )

Oliver Pig was one of my favorite books growing up. I made my parents read it to me over and over and over. I wanted a little sister like Amanda, but instead I got a little brother. But I ended up liking him just as much as I liked Amanda. ( )
