La luna virgiliana del secondo canto dell’Eneide, quello in cui si narra la notte dell’inganno greco a danno dei Troiani viene scelto dal poeta come titolo, a sottolineare come "i silenzi complici della tacita luna" accompagnino imprese destinate a portare dolore e morte. Dalle memorie e da frammenti del proprio vissuto, dalla riflessione sulla morte e dal rapporto antitetico con se stesso, nasce quest'opera a metà tra prosa e lirica, forse sarebbe meglio dire grande suggestiva divagazione. Yeats ci parla della “creatura misteriosa” che la letteratura ha il compito di evocare, l’ignoto profondamente addormentato in noi. Il Daimon, la morte e le voci dei morti che il poeta ha il compito di perpetuare. ( )
